This video interview was done at Lawrie's home in Kimberley in 2013. Lawrie finished his pilot training before the war and was called up for war service. He flew Hartebees aircraft in East Africa and then served with 25 bomber squadron as OC  in SA and Italy flying Venturas. He ended the war as OC of 15 squadron flying Baltimores.
